Hulu is a streaming service offered in the United States, that has a wide variety of TV shows and movies to pick from. One category to pick from is called “Anime TV” full of anime. Anime is hand-drawn or computer animation that originates from Japan. Anime that is made outside of Japan is usually called anime-influenced animation. These shows and movies aren’t usually meant for children even if they’re technically cartoons. The shows that I am about to recommend have a lot of meaning and important messages that can be related to everyday life in them. The list is solely based on my opinion, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

5. Tokyo Ghoul

In a world where flesh eating ghouls live among humans, Ken Kaneki ends up becoming the first ghoul-human hybrid. This leads him down the dark path of the secret world of ghouls. This show has multiple scenes that depict symbolism and foreshadowing that gives a deeper meaning of the sense of abandonment and loss that is experienced by Kaneki and the other characters of the show. Even though the graphic scenes and chaotic plot line are unrealistic, the show makes a connection to what it means to lose and grieve for someone.

4. Assassination Classroom

The students of Class 3E are the misfits in school but have been assigned with an important task, kill their teacher before he destroys the planet. They must kill Koro Sensei with any means possible but it’s a little hard when he is the most powerful being in the world. Although it may seem like Koro Sensei has bad intentions, he helps his students overcome academic barriers they never were able to before. In doing so it shows the viewers how hard work and never giving up can pay off, in school and killing your super teacher.

3. Death Parade

In the "Quindecim" Bar there are games played by the recently deceased to determine the fate of their souls. Decim, the bar host, is tasked with the deciding whether these people’s souls get reincarnated or sent to the void, a never-ending pit of darkness. Throughout the show you get shown the anger, sadness, and all the darkness that everyone holds deep down. This darkness is judged by Decim, and the ones being judged eventually realize how miserable they were bottling up their feelings. Every episode takes into count that to lead a successful and fulfilling life you must express yourself emotional so that your darkness doesn’t corrupt your soul.

2. Attack on Titan

100 years before the present-day, man-eating giants appeared called Titans and humanity fled to the safety within the walls they built. Eren Jaeger sees one of these creatures devour his mother which leads him to vow to kill every Titan. Many who live in this fictional world live in fear of the Titans and what could happen next, only the brave get to leave the walls. Although the world we know doesn’t have titans, many live-in fears during war or pandemics. In this show it highlights the brave and shows that it may be hard, but we shouldn’t live in constant fear.

1. Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden

Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden are two separate shows that follow the adventures of Naruto Uzumaki, a boy who is determined to become the Hokage. In this fictional world the Kage are the leaders of the 5 hidden villages and recognized as the strongest ninja in their village.

Throughout the 720 total episodes, between the two shows, the importance of friendship and teamwork two of the main messages that are conveyed to the audience. It is very hard to do everything on your own, it is important to rely on and create bonds with others to succeed
